We couldn't be readier for a fresh start around here. Team Craun packed and hauled itself a couple short hours down to visit friends in Columbus, and ring in the new beginning together. The adults old friends, and the children new -- but it was magical amounts of relaxation, laughs, and conversation. It was also a good reminder to be better at maintaining friendships. We tend to let the space between our visits grow far too long.
I am looking forward to 2012. I'm motivated to tackle more creative projects around the house, to get myself back into the studio and making prints with more frequency, and to entertain a lot more friends. We don't let enough people in; carve out enough time to share life and to celebrate relationships.
My two favorite Christmas presents this year are the two pictured above. A gorgeous plate for my kitchen wall art plate collection, and a stunning multi-stripe wood cutting board that will make a lovely cheese board. The plate was a surprise from my Mother-in-law, and the cutting board entirely handmade by a good friend. These two gestures reminded me how well we can be known. Two small pleasures. Both beautiful and functional. Shared.
Happy New Year! I hope it is one that is rich with friends and family, and grand in surprises and much creativity.
